PRENATAL

Prenatal care typically begins around 10 weeks or after a positive pregnancy test. An initial visit consists of a health history review, questions, and a consent to care.

Prenatal visits take place at the office at 340 S Main St in Rockland.  Partners and siblings are encouraged to visit if desired by the client.

The office has space for little ones to play comfortably.

Prenatal visits are an hour long. This provides ample time to share a cup of tea, connect, answer questions and provide education and informed choice about upcoming options.

There will be assessments of the ongoing growth & wellness of both mother & baby.  Vital signs, fundal height measurements, fetal heart tone observations, and labs as needed.

One goal of prenatal care is to establish connection between midwife and client that serves as a deep nourishing foundation for the continuity of care.

DURING OUR SESSIONS

Pregnancy is a deeply transformative time with great potential for vitality, healing, connection & beauty. Prenatal visits take a comprehensive approach that includes discussions of optimal nourishment, lifestyle, healthy relations, community resources & informed decisions for various routine prenatal options.

  • Hourly visits once a month from initial visit to 28 weeks gestation.

  • Every 2 weeks between 28 - 36 weeks

   *   Weekly visits begin at 36 weeks until the birth.

A birth team visit will occur between 35 and 37 weeks. This provides an opportunity for those that plan to be present at the birth to meet and get to know each other before labor.

Sometimes there is a need or desire for co-care or complimentary care. These options are available within the community, and Madrona is happy to provide referrals or recommendations to other local providers as needed.

The prenatal visit schedule is as follows:
